Why this part is needed
This precision bearing supports the counter gear set inside the manual transmission. It keeps gears in perfect mesh, controls endplay, and reduces friction. With a healthy countershaft bearing, shifting stays smooth, gear noise stays low, and torque is transferred efficiently .
How it works
Hardened rollers run between inner and outer races, carrying high radial loads from the gear train. Bath-lubricated by gear oil, it maintains tight clearance so the countershaft runs true. A correct press-fit in the case and proper preload keep the gearbox quiet and cool during long service.
What happens if itβs broken
Wear or pitting causes a rising whine in most gears, metal flakes in oil, vibration under load, hard shifting, or gear jump-out. Left unchecked, misalignment chews gear teeth and synchros, overheats oil, and can seize the transmission. Replace the bearing and inspect the shaft, gears, and shims for best results .
