Information
Reverse Light Switch Assembly for Nissan Gearbox
This small but critical transmission-mounted switch turns on your rear reverse lights the moment you select R. It’s needed for road safety, helping drivers and pedestrians see that your vehicle is backing up—especially at night, in rain, or tight parking areas.
How It Works
⚙️ Inside the unit is a spring-loaded plunger. When the shifter engages reverse, an internal rail or selector pushes the plunger, closing an electrical circuit. Power then flows to the reverse bulbs (and on many models, also signals parking sensors or a rear camera trigger).
Symptoms If It’s Faulty
If the switch fails, reverse lamps may stay off, come on late, flicker, or remain on all the time. A broken or leaking switch can also cause poor connector contact, blown fuses, warning lights, or intermittent camera/sensor operation. Driving without working reverse lights increases accident risk and may fail inspection.
