Why you need it
Without a healthy lever, the engine cannot be cleanly disconnected from the transmission. That means hard starts, rough gear changes, and clutch drag. A fresh part restores crisp shifting, protects the clutch kit, and reduces pedal effort and noise, especially on stop-and-go city driving.
How it works ⚙️
When you press the pedal, hydraulic or cable force rotates the arm on its pivot. The fork pushes the release bearing into the diaphragm spring, lifting the pressure plate and freeing the disc from the flywheel. Correct alignment keeps the bearing square, prevents side-load, and minimizes sleeve wear.
What happens if it’s broken ❗
Cracks, worn fingers, or an elongated push-point cause clutch drag, grinding into reverse, stiff or squeaky pedal, shudder on take-off, or total loss of disengagement—leaving the car stuck in gear. Continued driving can overheat the disc, warp the cover, damage the input shaft sleeve, and destroy the release bearing.
