Information

Clutch Release Sleeve (Transmission Guide Sleeve)

This clutch release sleeve is a critical support part inside the bell housing. It guides the release bearing so the clutch can disengage smoothly when you press the pedal. Without a straight, stable sliding surface, even a good clutch kit can feel rough and wear out early.

Why this part is needed βœ…

Each time you press the clutch pedal, the release bearing must travel in a perfect line toward the pressure plate fingers. This sleeve keeps that movement centered, reduces side-load, and helps maintain quiet, light pedal action.

How it works βš™οΈ

The release bearing slides along the sleeve as the fork pushes it forward. The sleeve acts like a guide rail: it keeps the bearing aligned, prevents wobble, and limits metal-to-metal scraping. Proper lubrication on the sleeve surface also helps reduce heat and friction.

What happens if it’s worn or damaged ❌

A scored or loose sleeve can cause clutch chatter, hard shifting, squealing noises, and an inconsistent pedal feel. In severe cases, the release bearing can bind, leading to incomplete clutch release, gear grinding, and accelerated wear of the bearing, fork, and pressure plate.
