Intake Air Temperature Sensor Assembly

Why you need it

This sensor reads the temperature of the air entering the intake and sends exact data to the engine ECU. With correct air density info, the ECU sets fuel trim, ignition timing, idle speed, and cold‑start enrichment. The result is smooth starts, clean acceleration, stable idle, and improved fuel economy. It is essential whenever you see a check engine light for intake temp or when replacing a damaged air duct or airbox.

How it works ️

Inside is an NTC thermistor. The ECU supplies a 5V reference and reads the return voltage. As air gets warmer, resistance drops and voltage changes; the ECU converts this to temperature. A fast-response tip and sealed body deliver quick, stable readings, even in heat and vibration. The plug matches the factory harness for reliable, low-noise signals.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

Cold starts become hard, idle turns rough, throttle feels lazy, and fuel use rises. Mixture can run too rich or too lean, causing black smoke or hesitation. The ECU may set P0112/P0113 and turn on the check engine light. Long term, carbon buildup increases and the catalytic converter can suffer.

Install tips βœ…

Mount in the intake duct or manifold port, seat the O‑ring, and tighten gently. Connect the plug until it clicks, clear fault codes, and perform an idle relearn if needed.
