Information

Rear Tailgate Lock Switch Assembly

This OE-style liftgate button is the small weather-sealed switch you press to unlock and open the back door. It talks to the body control module and triggers the latch actuator, giving you smooth, hands-on access to the cargo area. Built with a durable rubber pad, reinforced microswitch, and a tight gasket, it resists water, dust, and road salt—ideal for SUVs and family haulers.

Why you need it

When the rear switch fails, cargo access becomes a hassle. This part restores convenient outside opening, keeps the vehicle secure, and supports power liftgate functions (where equipped). It’s plug-and-play with factory connectors for a clean fit.

How it works ️

Pressing the pad closes a low-voltage circuit. The BCM verifies lock status and key authorization, then energizes the latch motor to release the tailgate. A molded seal keeps moisture away from the contacts for long service life.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

No response at the button, intermittent opening, trunk-ajar warnings, or needing the key fob/interior switch only. In severe corrosion, it may cause false triggers or battery drain. Replacing the switch restores reliable, safe operation.
