This precision ECT sender feeds real-time coolant heat data to the engine computer. With accurate temperature info, the ECU adjusts fuel, ignition timing, idle speed, and controls the radiator fan for smooth starts, strong power, and clean emissions.
Why you need it
A healthy sensor keeps warm-up fast, prevents fuel wash, saves fuel, and protects the head gasket. Itβs essential after overheating, rough cold starts, or unexplained rich running.
How it works
Inside is a thermistor whose resistance changes with coolant heat. The ECU reads that signal (cold = high resistance, hot = low), then sets fuel mixture and fan operation. The unit seals with an O-ring/washer for leak-free performance.
When it fails β οΈ
Expect hard starts, high idle, black smoke, poor MPG, lazy fan control, boiling coolant, or a Check Engine light. Long-term neglect can foul plugs and damage the catalytic converter.
