This ignition lead is a key link between the distributor and the breaker/ignition circuit, carrying a clean electrical signal so the spark happens at the right moment. A healthy lead keeps voltage stable, reduces misfires, and helps the engine start fast in cold or hot conditions.
Why this part is needed β
Over time, heat, oil vapors, vibration, and moisture harden the insulation and weaken the conductor. Replacing the lead restores reliable current flow, protects nearby components from arcing, and keeps ignition timing behavior consistent.
How it works ?
The wire routes electrical energy through a protected core and insulation jacket. Its resistance is designed to control electrical noise while still delivering enough power for a strong spark. Proper terminal fit prevents voltage loss and corrosion.

A damaged lead can cause misfire, rough idle, hesitation under load, poor fuel economy, and hard starting. Severe cracking may create spark leakage (arcing), which can stress the coil, foul plugs, and trigger warning lights.
