Why this part is needed

How it works

What happens if it’s worn or broken
Clogging causes sluggish throttle, reduced power, higher fuel use, and rich or smoky exhaust on diesels. A torn or mis-seated element lets grit score cylinder walls and turbo blades, contaminates the MAF, and can trigger fault codes. Severe saturation may collapse the media. Inspect every service; replace about every 15,000–20,000 km, sooner in dust or after water ingress.
