Why it’s needed
Clean, pressurized fuel is vital. This housing maintains leak‑free connections, correct flow, and water drainage. It prevents injector wear, pump scoring, rough idle, slow acceleration, and loss of power—especially under load.
How it works ⚙️
Fuel enters the inlet, passes through the filter, and exits to the high‑pressure pump. A built‑in chamber collects water; a sensor or drain lets you remove it. Quality O‑rings and check valves stop air from entering. Many versions include a hand primer to bleed the system after service for quick, clean starts.
If it’s damaged
Cracks, warped seats, or tired seals cause air leaks, hard starts, stalling on hills, rail pressure faults (P0087), diesel smell, and wet spots. Contaminants bypassing the filter can ruin injectors and the pump—an expensive repair. Replace at the first signs of leakage or repeated priming.
Fitment and install tips
Use new seals, tighten banjo bolts to spec, prime until firm, and check for bubbles. Drain water regularly and run quality diesel for long injector life.
