Exhaust Manifold to Cylinder Head Gasket ??

This sealing gasket sits between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head. Its job is simple but critical: keep hot exhaust gases inside the exhaust ports and prevent leaks at the flange. A tight seal protects nearby sensors, wiring, and plastic parts from heat blow-by, and helps the engine stay quiet and efficient.

Why this part is needed ✅

Exhaust pulses are high temperature and high pressure. The mating surfaces expand and shrink every drive, so a dedicated gasket is required to fill microscopic imperfections and maintain clamping force as the manifold heats up.

How it works ⚙️

When the manifold bolts are torqued down, the gasket compresses and forms a heat-resistant barrier. It “beds in” to both surfaces, sealing each port so exhaust flow goes only where it should—through the manifold and into the exhaust system.

What happens if it’s broken or leaking ❗

  • Ticking/puttering noise on cold start that may lessen when warm
  • Loss of power, sluggish acceleration, higher fuel use
  • Exhaust smell in engine bay and possible cabin fumes
  • Risk of burnt studs, warped flange, and sensor misreadings

Best practice ?️

Replace the gasket whenever the manifold is removed. Clean mating faces, inspect for cracks/warpage, and torque fasteners in sequence to avoid repeat leaks.
