Information
Coolant Expansion Tank for Toyota 4x4 Cooling System
This radiator overflow bottle (reserve tank) keeps your engine safe by holding extra coolant when it expands under heat. It maintains stable pressure, prevents air pockets, and ensures the radiator stays topped up. Essential for heavy loads, long climbs, hot climates, and everyday reliability. A healthy cooling system means steady temperature, strong heater performance, and longer engine life. βοΈ
How it works
A small hose links the radiator neck to the tank. When coolant heats up, pressure sends excess fluid into the reservoir. As the engine cools, vacuum draws coolant back to the radiator, keeping it full. Clear level marks (MIN/MAX) help quick checks. Durable OE-grade plastic resists heat and vibration; proper cap and hose seal keep the system airtight.
What happens if itβs broken β οΈ
- Coolant loss, wet spots, or sweet smell
- Overheating in traffic or on climbs
- Air in system: weak cabin heat, gurgling
- Rusty coolant, faster pump and hose wear
- Risk of warped head or gasket failure
Tech tips β
- Direct-fit swap; inspect cap and hose
- Use Toyota Pink/Red SLLC; bleed air fully
- Do not overfill past MAX
- Check mounts; tighten brackets evenly
