Why this part is needed
The oil pump is the heart of the lubrication system. It feeds pressurized oil to crankshaft bearings, camshafts, timing chains, and pistons. How it works
A rotor/gear set, driven by the crankshaft, draws oil through the pickup screen and pushes it into the main galleries. An internal relief valve controls maximum PSI at idle and high RPM, so seals stay safe while parts get the flow they need. What happens if it fails
Low oil pressure light, flickering gauge, tapping on cold start, timing chain rattle, lifter noise, and bearing knock. Metal glitter in oil may appear. Driving on can spin bearings or seize the engine. If symptoms show, stop, confirm level, inspect the pickup, and replace the pump β
Install tips
