Valve Rocker Shaft Assembly
This shaft is the backbone of the valve train. It holds and aligns the rocker arms so each valve opens and closes at the right time. Built from hardened steel with precise oil passages, it keeps motion smooth, reduces friction, and stabilizes valve lash. Choose it to restore quiet running, clean throttle response, and long service life.
How it works
The shaft bolts to the cylinder head on pedestals. Rocker arms pivot on the shaft as the cam lobe acts through the rocker, turning lift into valve movement. Internal galleries route pressurized oil to rocker bushings and tips, protecting the cam, valves, and guides under load and heat.
What if itβs worn or cracked
Expect loud ticking, unstable idle, loss of power, and poor emissions. Oil starvation can score rockers, flatten cam lobes, and contaminate the engine with metal. In severe cases a rocker can jump off, leading to a dead cylinder or major damage.

Clean oil passages, pre-lube, use new bolts/washers, and torque in sequence. Inspect rockers and pedestals, then set valve clearance to spec after warm-up.
