Rocker/Valve Cover Gasket – Keep The Top End Dry ️

This precision seal sits between the cylinder head and the aluminum rocker cover. Also known as a valve cover gasket, it keeps hot oil in and dirt and moisture out. On spirited Nissan coupes, heat, age, and vibration flatten the old rubber, letting oil creep onto plug wells and the exhaust.

Why you need it

A fresh gasket restores tight sealing, stops oil leaks, protects ignition coils, and prevents that burning oil smell. It helps maintain clean idle, stable performance, and a tidy engine bay ️.

How it works

Under even bolt torque, the molded rubber compresses to form an elastic barrier around the perimeter and spark plug tubes. It resists hot oil, crankcase vapors, and thousands of heat cycles from the PCV system, keeping the engine top end clean and dry.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Expect wet edges, oil in plug wells, misfires, blue smoke as oil drips on the manifold, and baked grime on the cover. Long term, falling oil level and hardened, cracked rubber lead to wider leaks and coil damage.

Fitting tips

• Clean both faces; remove old sealant carefully.
• Use a tiny bead of RTV at cam cap corners only.
• Tighten in sequence to low Nm; do not over-torque.
• Replace spark plug tube seals if fitted.
• Recheck after the first heat cycle .
