Rocker Cover Seal for Nissan Engines
This valve cover gasket keeps engine oil where it belongs and dirt out. It seals the joint between the cam/rocker cover and the cylinder head, protecting camshafts, chains, and lifters. A fresh seal cures annoying oil smells, messy leaks, and protects ignition parts. Ideal for preventive maintenance or when tackling an oil leak service.
How it works ⚙️
The molded rubber/elastomer ring compresses between the cover and head. Even clamping pressure creates a uniform barrier against heat, vibration, and oil splash. Proper sealing also helps crankcase ventilation work correctly.
When it fails ⚠️
Expect oil seepage along the head, drips onto the exhaust (smoke), burning oil smell, and oil pooling in spark plug wells causing misfire. Low oil level, dirty engine bay, and softened grommets are common. Prolonged leaks can damage coils and hoses.
Install notes
Clean mating surfaces, inspect cover flatness, replace bolt grommets, add a tiny bead of RTV at corners/half-moons, then torque evenly to spec. Recheck after heat cycle for best results.
