OE‑spec Connecting Rod Bearing Set for Reliable Engine Rebuilds

Why this part is needed

These precision shells keep the connecting rod big‑end gliding on a thin oil film, protecting the crankshaft journal under heavy load. Fresh bearings restore factory clearance, stabilize oil pressure, reduce friction, and silence rod knock. Install during overhaul, after crank polish/grind, or when you see glitter in oil, low oil pressure, or tapping on cold start. ✅

How it works ️

Two half‑shells with a steel back and tri‑metal overlay seat into the rod and cap with a designed “crush” fit. With proper clearance, the oil groove builds a hydrodynamic wedge that centers the rod on the crank, carrying load without metal‑to‑metal contact. Correct grade/oversize matches the crank journal size.

What happens if it’s worn or broken ⚠️

Excess clearance drops oil pressure, raises heat, and scrubs the overlay. You’ll get rod knock under load, copper showing, metal debris, a spun shell, scored journals, or a seized and thrown rod—often terminal engine damage.

Tech tips

  • Measure clearance with plastigage; choose proper grade or oversize.
  • Inspect journals for taper/out‑of‑round; polish or grind if needed.
  • Clean bores, align tangs, and use assembly lube on install.
  • Torque rod bolts to spec; verify oiling holes and bearing crush.
