Why this part is needed
It keeps engine angle and height correct, protects driveshafts and exhaust flex, and improves idle comfort. A healthy mount also sharpens gear shifts and reduces stress on brackets and hoses.
How it works
A steel bracket bonded to rubber (often hydraulic-filled) absorbs engine pulses. Under torque, the rubber flexes to isolate movement, while an internal stopper limits big swings during braking or kick-down. It recenters the engine when load drops.
What happens if it’s broken
You’ll notice harsh vibration at idle, clunk on start/shift, steering shake, and more noise. Excess engine motion can crack hoses, misalign belts, and wear out other mounts and axles. In severe cases, the engine can hit the subframe under load .
