Engine Flywheel Assembly for Smooth Starts & Stable Power βš™οΈ

This flywheel unit is a key link between the engine crankshaft and the clutch. It’s needed to store rotating energy so the engine keeps spinning evenly between combustion strokes, especially at idle and during take-off. Without a healthy flywheel, the drivetrain feels harsh and unpredictable.

How It Works

The flywheel bolts to the crankshaft and provides a heavy, balanced surface. When the clutch engages, its friction plate grips the flywheel face to transmit torque to the gearbox. The flywheel also carries the starter ring gear, allowing the starter motor to crank the engine.

If It’s Worn or Damaged

A damaged friction surface or loose internal structure can cause clutch shudder, vibration, slipping, noisy engagement, or hard gear changes. You may hear grinding at start-up (ring gear wear) or feel pulsing through the pedal. Ignoring it can ruin the clutch kit, stress the starter, and even damage the crankshaft flange.
