Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal Retainer Housing

This precision housing secures and centers the rear main seal at the back of the engine. It keeps the seal square on the crankshaft flange, provides a flat mating surface to the block, and locks in the oil path so the transmission side stays dry. Why this part is needed ️

Without a true, rigid retainer, the rear main seal can tilt or walk. That causes oil seepage at the bellhousing, messy driveways, clutch slip, and low oil level. A correct housing restores alignment, prevents leaks, and protects the flywheel/flexplate and torque converter area.

How it works ️

The retainer positions the lip seal concentrically to the crankshaft and clamps a gasket or RTV bead against the block. Drain-back passages and a clean bore reduce oil turbulence, so the seal rides on a smooth, lubricated surface while crankcase pressure is contained.
