Information

Rear Main Seal Housing & Carrier for Nissan/Infiniti ļø

This precision carrier holds the crankshaft’s rear oil seal in the correct position, keeping engine oil inside the crankcase and away from the flywheel/torque converter area. Built to OE geometry, it ensures perfect seal alignment and clamping force for long, dry service life.

Why you need it

Without a true-seated rear main seal, oil escapes at the back of the engine. The carrier locates the seal, mates to the block with a tight gasket/RTV interface, and maintains concentricity with the crank. That prevents leaks and protects transmission components.

How it works ļø

The rigid housing centers a PTFE/elastomer lip seal around the crank flange. Bolts and dowel points lock alignment; the perimeter seal keeps oil from wicking past the block surface. The seal’s lip and spring shed oil back into the sump while the carrier holds set depth and angle.

What happens if it’s bad āš ļø

Oil drip at the bellhousing, burning smell on exhaust, slipping clutch (manual), soft shifts (auto), stained underbody, and falling oil level. Long term, it can soak the flywheel or converter, damage mounts, and raise maintenance costs.

Install tips ✨

Clean block face, use correct sealant, torque in sequence, lube the lip lightly, and use an alignment tool. Never fold or nick the seal edge.
