Rear Main Oil Seal for Crankshaft ️

Why your engine needs this part

This seal keeps engine oil inside the block where the crankshaft exits to the gearbox. It prevents leaks at the flywheel area, keeps the clutch or torque converter clean, and maintains correct oil level and pressure. Without a healthy seal, even a small leak can turn into big repair costs.

How it works

A precision rubber/PTFE lip, supported by a spring, hugs the crankshaft journal. Press-fitted into the rear cover, it creates a tight barrier that holds back hot, pressurized oil while the crank spins at high speed. A dust lip blocks dirt from the bellhousing. Correct surface finish and concentric fit are key for long life.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

Oil drips from the bellhousing, clutch slip or shudder, burnt smell, low oil level, mess on the flywheel, and possible bearing wear. Continued driving can lead to engine damage.

Installation tips

Inspect crank surface; clean and dry. Use a guide sleeve and press squarelyβ€”do not hammer. Set to the specified depth to avoid riding on a worn groove. Lightly oil a nitrile lip; install PTFE lips dry. Replace during clutch or gearbox service for best value.
