Engine Crankcase Ventilation Valve (PCV)

This small, calibrated one‑way valve routes blow‑by gases from the crankcase back to the intake. It keeps internal pressure low, reduces sludge, stabilizes idle, and helps your Toyota meet emissions rules ♻️. Built to OE spec for heat, oil, and vacuum, it seals tightly yet meters flow for clean, efficient combustion.

Why you need it βœ…

It maintains a gentle vacuum in the crankcase, purging moisture and fuel vapors, protecting seals and gaskets, improving fuel economy, and extending oil life. Without it, pressure and acids build up, harming bearings and rubber parts.

How it works

Inside is a spring‑loaded pintle/orifice. At idle (high vacuum) it restricts flow; under load it opens to vent more; during a backfire it snaps shut. The result is controlled ventilation matched to engine demand. Replacement is quick: unscrew or pull from grommet, fit the new valve, and verify hose integrity.

If it fails ⚠️

Expect rough idle, whistling, oil leaks, blue smoke, high oil use, fuel trim/lean codes (stuck open), or dipstick pop/blown seals (stuck closed). Check for rattle; no rattle often means seized. Replace every 60–100k km and renew the grommet and hoses for a tight system.

Tech tips

Install with flow toward the intake, inspect vacuum lines, and snug hand‑tight plus a quarter turn. Works alongside EGR/EVAP; it’s not a substitute for them.
