Why this part is needed
This ring pack restores tight cylinder sealing, bringing back lost compression, clean combustion, and stable idle. It controls oil on the cylinder walls, cuts blue smoke, and protects the catalytic converter. Ideal for rebuilds or oil-burning engines .
How it works
The top compression ring locks in combustion pressure; the second ring backs up sealing and scrapes residual gases; the 3-piece oil ring meters oil with a spring expander. Moly-faced and ductile-iron materials seat quickly on a proper hone, while correct end gaps maintain seal when hot .
If the rings are worn or damaged
Expect low power, hard starts, high blow-by, oily plugs, blue exhaust, rising fuel use, and clogged PCV. Excess debris can score cylinder walls and stress the turbo (where fitted). Emissions climb and oil consumption spikes.
Pro install tips
Hone to spec, verify ring end gaps in the bore, stagger gaps 120°, orient pistons correctly, lube lightly, torque per manual, and perform gentle break-in with an early oil change.
