Engine Wrist Pin Bushing ?️

This precision small‑end bushing supports the wrist (gudgeon) pin where the piston meets the connecting rod. It is vital for quiet, smooth engine operation, keeping the piston centered, spreading load, and cutting friction. A fresh, correctly sized bushing protects the rod and pin, stabilizes combustion, and helps maintain power and longevity.

Why you need it ?

Over time the original bushing wears oval, loses clearance control, and lets the pin hammer the rod eye. Replacing it restores correct pin fit, reduces noise, and prevents costly rod and piston damage. Ideal during rebuilds or when chasing top‑end knock.

How it works

Press‑fit into the rod’s small end, this bronze/bi‑metal sleeve carries the pin on an oil film. Oil grooves and precise honing keep 0.01–0.03 mm running clearance, allowing free pivot of the piston while absorbing high combustion loads at high RPM.

If it’s worn or broken ⚠️

Expect cold knock, piston slap, shiny pin scuffing, metal debris, rising oil use, and misalignment that can crack the piston boss. In severe cases the pin can seize, spin the bushing, or oval the rod—leading to catastrophic engine failure.
