Why this part is needed

This critical seal locks in combustion pressure while separating coolant and oil paths. It restores compression, prevents external leaks, and stops cross-contamination. Any time the cylinder head is removed, after overheating, or when symptoms of a blown head seal appear, replacement is essential for reliable engine performance and clean emissions.

How it works

A multi-layer steel core with fire rings surrounds each cylinder, while elastomer beads guard oil and coolant passages. When torqued, the head bolts clamp the head and block, creating uniform pressure that maintains sealing through heat cycles, vibration, and load. Proper surface finish and bolt stretch are key to long life.
