Crankshaft Main Bearing Set for Toyota Engines

This precision engine bearing supports the crankshaft inside the cylinder block and keeps it perfectly aligned under heavy load. It is needed to maintain a stable oil film between moving metal surfaces, reducing friction, heat, and wear during every start and high-RPM drive.

How It Works ⚙️

The bearing shell sits in the main bearing saddles and “floats” the crankshaft on pressurized engine oil. As the crank turns, the oil wedge forms a protective layer that prevents direct contact, helping the engine run smooth, quiet, and efficient.

Why Replacement Matters ✅

With age, dirty oil, low oil pressure, overheating, or hard towing, the bearing surface can score or thin out. Once clearances grow, oil pressure drops and the crankshaft loses proper support.

If It’s Worn or Broken

Common results include knocking noise, metal flakes in oil, low oil pressure light, vibration, and rapid crank journal damage. If ignored, it can lead to crank seizure or complete engine failure requiring a rebuild.
