Crankshaft Thrust Plate for Mitsubishi Engines ⚙️

This thrust plate is a small but very important engine part. It controls crankshaft end play and keeps the crankshaft sitting in the correct front-to-rear position inside the engine block. Without stable crankshaft location, the engine cannot run smoothly for long.

Why This Part Is Needed ?

During clutch operation, automatic transmission load, acceleration, and engine braking, the crankshaft is pushed forward and backward. The thrust plate takes this side load and protects the block, crankshaft journals, timing parts, and bearings from abnormal wear.

How It Works

The plate provides a hard, accurately machined thrust surface. Engine oil forms a thin film between the moving crankshaft and the plate, reducing friction and heat. Correct clearance allows the crankshaft to rotate freely while preventing excessive axial movement.

Signs of Failure ⚠️

If the plate is worn, cracked, or incorrectly fitted, the engine may develop knocking noise, unstable idle, oil pressure issues, difficult gear engagement, vibration, or rapid main bearing damage. In severe cases, crankshaft movement can damage the engine block and require a complete overhaul.
