    Rear Drum Brake Shoe Set — OE-Spec Replacement

    Why you need it

    This rear brake shoe kit restores safe stopping power when linings are worn, glazed, or oil-soaked. Fresh shoes give firm pedal feel, shorter braking distance, quieter operation, and strong parking brake hold. Replacing them on time also protects the drum from scoring and costly machining.

    How it works

    In a drum system, hydraulic pressure moves the wheel‑cylinder pistons, pushing the curved shoes outward. The friction lining grips the drum to slow the vehicle. Return springs pull the shoes back when you release the pedal, while a star adjuster keeps the gap correct. The parking brake lever spreads the shoes mechanically for solid hold on inclines.

    If worn or broken

    Expect longer stops, low pedal, weak handbrake, pulling to one side, scraping or squeal, vibration, hot smell, or rivets showing. Ignoring it can cause drum damage, brake fade on hills, uneven wear, and extended stopping distances. Always replace shoes as an axle set and inspect hardware.

    Clean the backing plate, lightly lube contact pads, renew springs if weak, center the shoes, set the star adjuster, and bed-in with several medium stops. Keep grease off the linings. ✅
