Information
Power Steering Pump Drive Belt for Nissan
Keep steering light and accurate with this OEM‑spec drive belt. It transfers crankshaft rotation to the hydraulic pump, creating the pressure you need for smooth, quiet turns on road and off-road .
Why this belt is needed
A healthy steering belt prevents slip, pump whine, heavy wheel effort, and fluid overheating. Age, oil contamination, and wrong tension cause cracks and glazing. Timely replacement protects the pump, hoses, and seals ✅.
How it works
The belt wraps the crank and pump pulleys. Correct width and groove angle lock by friction; proper tension (set at the pump bracket or adjuster) ensures the pump spins at the right speed for steady hydraulic assist.
What happens if it fails
Early signs: cold-start squeal, burnt rubber smell, shiny ribs, frayed edges, and jerky steering. If it snaps, assist is lost instantly ⚠️. The pump may cavitate and overheat, damaging seals and bearings. Low‑speed maneuvers become unsafe.
Install tips
Check pulley alignment, keep the belt clean and dry, set 8–12 mm mid‑span deflection, and recheck after 100–200 km. Replace worn idlers/tensioners, torque brackets, bleed the system, and confirm no slip at full lock.
