The front bonnet panel is a key body part that closes over the engine bay and locks to the upper support. It is needed to protect expensive components from rain, dust, stones, and road salt, while also helping airflow pass correctly over the front end for stable driving. A good bonnet also supports safe crumple behavior in a front impact and keeps engine heat where it should be.

How It Works ⚙️

This panel mounts on hinges near the windshield side and opens with the interior release cable. When shut, the latch and safety catch hold it tight so it cannot lift at speed. The inner frame adds strength and keeps the outer skin from flexing, while aligning with fenders and headlights for a clean seal and reduced wind noise.

If It’s Bent or Damaged ?

A broken or misaligned bonnet can cause poor gaps, water leaks into the engine bay, vibration, and paint wear where it rubs. Worst case, a weak latch area or twisted frame may allow the bonnet to pop up while driving, blocking visibility and creating a serious safety risk.
