How it works 🔧

When the breaker points open, voltage spikes. The condenser absorbs that surge for a split second, letting the ignition coil’s magnetic field collapse quickly. This rapid collapse generates a powerful high-voltage pulse to the spark plugs. As the points close, the stored charge releases gently, preventing point bounce and metal transfer.

What happens if it’s bad ❗

Hard starting, weak or erratic spark, misfire under load, rough idle, backfire, and high fuel use. Points become pitted and blue, the coil may overheat, and radio noise rises. Driving for long with a failed unit can foul plugs and stress the catalytic converter due to unburnt fuel.

Build and fitment

OEM-grade dielectric, correct microfarad rating, corrosion-resistant lead and bracket. Install in minutes: bolt to distributor body, connect to the points lead, ensure clean ground, then set point gap and dwell to spec. For best results, pair with a healthy coil and fresh leads. 🚗
