Why you need this part

This unit controls the air going into the intake on Toyota diesel engines. It stabilizes idle, smooths engine shut‑down, helps EGR mixing for cleaner combustion, and supports DPF regeneration. If airflow is managed right, you get better response, lower smoke, and fewer warning lights. ✅

How it works

An electric motor drives a butterfly plate while a position sensor reports to the ECU. The ECU trims opening at idle, opens wider on throttle, and can momentarily close to increase EGR flow or to soften engine stop. Sealed bearings, a TPS-style sensor, and a precise gearset keep movement accurate. 🛠️

What happens when it fails

Stuck or worn units cause rough idle, loss of power, limp mode, black smoke, high fuel use, hard starting, or stalling on shut‑down. Common codes include P2111/P2112. If stuck closed, the engine may not start; if stuck open, EGR control and DPF regens suffer. Excess soot on the plate and oil mist are typical clues. Clean with diesel-safe cleaner, don’t force the flap, replace gasket, and perform idle relearn after install. ⚠️
