Crankshaft Main Bearing Set for Subaru Boxer Engines ⚙️
This bearing set supports the crankshaft and keeps it spinning smoothly in the engine block. You need it during a rebuild, when clearances are out of spec, or when oil pressure is low. Fresh bearings restore correct oil film, reduce friction, and protect the crank journals for long engine life.
How it works ️
Each half-shell sits in the block and cap, forming a precise circle around the crank. With engine oil, the bearing creates a hydrodynamic film that carries load without metal-to-metal contact. Correct clearance keeps oil pressure stable, aligns the crank, and controls heat.
What happens if it’s worn or broken
Symptoms include cold-start knock, low oil pressure light, metallic glitter in oil, vibration, and uneven idle. Continued driving can score the crank, overheat the oil, cause main knock, and eventually seize the engine—often ruining the block and crankshaft.
Tech notes from the bay
Use assembly lube, verify grade/size, measure with Plastigage, and torque caps in sequence. Replace thrust bearings if specified. Always pair with clean oil passages and a healthy pump.
