How it works ⚙️

This MacPherson unit bolts to the steering knuckle below and the strut tower above. Inside, a gas-charged damper meters oil through valves to control rebound and compression, while the coil spring supports load. On the RH side, it also stabilizes steering input under bumps.

If it’s worn or broken ❗

Expect clunks, fluid leaks, cupped tires, long braking, pull or wander, ABS/ESC interventions, and uneven ride height. Prolonged driving can damage top mounts, sway links, and CV joints, and may cause loss of control on rough roads.

Tech notes 🛠️

Replace in pairs when possible. Torque fasteners to spec and perform wheel alignment. Inspect top mount/bearing and spring; reuse or renew as needed. Do not swap left/right.
