Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Assembly

Why this part is needed

Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is not only oil — it also transfers power and controls hydraulic pressure. If ATF gets too hot, it thins out, loses protection, and starts to burn. A proper cooler helps maintain stable viscosity and pressure for reliable gear changes.

How it works

Hot ATF flows through the cooler core, where heat is released to air flow (or through a heat exchanger circuit, depending on layout). As the vehicle moves, cooling efficiency rises, bringing ATF back down before it returns to the transmission.

What happens if it’s broken

A clogged or leaking cooler can cause:
