How it works ⚙️

Paper and metal-backed gaskets compress between hub, spindle, and housing flanges. NBR lip seals hug the axle shaft to hold differential oil. Felt/rubber wipers at the knuckle scrape away grit, while O-rings seal spindle passages. Together they maintain correct lubrication zones front to back.

What happens if it’s broken ❌

Expect oil on backing plates, brake fade, steering shimmy, bearing pitting, CV clicking, and differential whine. Water entry turns grease milky, accelerating wear and risking costly hub and axle damage.

Service tips

Clean mating faces, use light sealant only where specified, torque in sequence, pack knuckles with quality moly grease, set preload to spec, and recheck after first drive.
